All of those series you mentioned have easily found interviews with their creators where they specifically say what subtext they were intending when they made them. You can disagree with the subtext, but was intentionally put there. That’s some willful ignorance.

I’m so glad you got away from that. It’s hard to not completely succumb to misanthropy sometimes and stories like yours remind me that there’s some hope.

The level of suffering people all over the world go through on a daily basis in unimaginable and we’re not capable of caring about it in depth and still functioning. Best you can do is be aware it exists and keep a wall up, only lowering it on occasions where you might be able to help. The fact that you care at all shows you’re not a MAGA monster.
