  • I’m not against different relationship arrangements and it’s often argued that you shouldn’t dump all your emotional needs on one person.

However… That being said the more people you add to the mix the more complex and more emotional energy you have to dictate to the situation. A lot of people are genuinely not ready for such a thing even if they think they are. Because while you might have mor emotional needs met, you’re also faced with higher emotional and social demands from your partners. Some people don’t seem to understand that you can’t avoid giving more of your emotional self to others when you give it to more than one person. In my experience, some of the people pursuing these kind of relationships are actually seeking less personal emotional investment, and I think that grossly misunderstands the situation and is a bit selfish, at best.

I think these situations can be healthy, but I also think healthy ones are more rare, just like healthy traditional relationships are often rare.

Finally, I am not shocked at people opening up to the idea of throuples when two parents can barely afford to raise a child. Three incomes starts to take the weight of the financial cost off just a little. Not a lot, but a little.

  • Oh for sure, I just mean that without standing up/pushing back and instead just asking them to stop, like the governor did, it’s just giving them more reason to fuck with you because they know it will bother you. Simply asking them “please dont do this” without any way to enforce that will always result in them trolling the fuck out of you and smiling while you suffer. The governor should have had a way to enforce this before asking, is all I am saying. You don’t ask abusers things politely and expect it to go well. Once they know it’s a weak point, they take advantage of it, and you’re exposing it as a weak point by asking.

  • The state’s governor had called for a pause in the federal immigration crackdown over the Halloween weekend, citing concerns for children’s safety.

Here’s the deal: The entire Federal apparatus is now made up almost entirely of violent abusers. Guess what, when you ask abusers not to do something, they’re going to do it harder because you put the abusive idea in their head. Honestly probably would have had less issues if nothing had been said at all, as sad as it is to say. Once they know you’ve set a personal boundary, they have full intent to cross that boundary to ruin your day. I guarantee you that ICE presence was stepped up massively because of the governor’s request.

  • I don’t think the Republicans really honestly give a shit if more people blame them or not.

I also honestly don’t think they intend to re-open the government anytime soon. Possibly ever.

They want Trump as a dictator, and they’re basically getting what they want with this, likely eventually arguing that Trump has to make the decisions because congress “no longer works.” They’ve always run on government not working and have spent the better part of fifty years working to make that a reality. Once the executive is the only branch of the government still functioning, they’ll have what they want.

The longer it is shutdown, the more essential agencies that keep people accountable and keep the country actually running will be shut down as they funnel more money into ICE and the military, the more authority they can hand off to the Executive branch. They will keep the IRS at bare minimum, but now that they’ve given ICE carte blanche to access citizens’ tax records, they will also use them to enforce tax code.

If people start rioting because of loss of services like SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security, all the better for them so they can institute the Insurrection Act. Expect the Pinkertons (who still exist and will just go back to their old ways) and ICE or the military shooting striking workers to come back en vogue.

Also it’s clear that they’re preparing to either royally fuck with the next election or just cancel it entirely.

As much as I want to believe there is a way out of this, we may already be out of political and legal options to stop this madness.

  • That’s because the entire issue is that the people whose ideologies you are fighting against don’t actually have consistent ideologies. Their ideology boils down to “what is beneficial to me to gain power that that specific time.” Once that time has passed and the opposite becomes more beneficial to them, they will switch sides, because that’s all that really matters to them.

When states’ rights becomes convenient to them again, they will switch back to supporting them just as effortlessly as they switched to states’ rights not being important. There is no end, there is no bottom, they have no shame. They only have the pursuit and expression of power. Which honestly explains why so many of them are rapists and kiddie diddlers since both of those are about gaining and executing power over the powerless.
