Well, aside from threatening to bomb Taiwan every other week and skirmishing with India, China is currently fighting with the Philippines (when they’re not busy kidnapping kids from Hong Kong). Their military is growing and so is their destabilizing influence. Even Japan has begun re-arming.

The widespread perception is that China is a bad-faith actor. Their warmongering is a little too on-the-nose.

Fun fact: if the air is dirty and the water is poisoned and all the plants and animals are dead, people will want to have lots of kids.

Seriously, one of the easiest ways to identify people who are philosophically and ethically illiterate is to ask them if drugs should be illegal.

I’m actually a huge fan of death. People don’t change their minds generally. They just die. We make progress one funeral at a time.

Median is not the same as average. Also, we don’t check math definitions in a dictionary, since we are not in middle school.

I’m not being pedantic, you’re just wrong. The average income in the US is deceptively high, whereas the median is quite low. This difference (or skew) is a sign of inequality.

The arithmetic mean, also called the average, or the expected value, is not the same type of calculation as the median.

There are many types of means or averages (harmonic, geometric, etc), but they all require a summation, an integral for continuous random variables and sigma notation for discrete. The median is the middle value. Totally different.

Low median* income. The income distribution is skewed since a handful of people have all the money.
