I wrote my representative and advocated for lifting the trade embargo and this is what they sent back:

Wine would provide enough hydration to prevent you from dying of thirst.

I am really disappointed to see Bill Burr here. I’m not surprised to see Mark Norman and others who made a name for themselves by making jokes at others expense. They remind me of little kids in school picking on the fat kid or the new kid from another country.
I hate to bring this up, especially since SA kills people so openly, but the US’s track record of committing terrorist acts, or supporting terrorism (South America) is terrible. We’re currently supplying weapons to Israel that they use to kill children. That’s going on right now, they’ve killed like 60,000 Palestinians, 20,000 children. If you weren’t American would you be okay with comedians playing in a country with America’s history?

They sent notices to people from Venezuela saying that they would be deported and barred from enyering the US unless they self-deported. A lot of people had active asylum claims but decided to leave so that they could come back and renew the claims later.
Within the last month all of the apartment buildings around us have put up vacancy signs in California. We talked to some of the managers, people are being laid off, their hours are being cut, they are moving in with family members to save money. I assumed that people self-deporting would be a factor since a couple of months ago Trump targeted Venezuelans who had asylum claims, but seems like this new situation is due to a bad job market and bad business outlooks.
I’m not sure if this is the reason but in the Senate standard budget legislation can be subject to a filibuster. To overcome a filibuster and proceed to a final vote, a supermajority of 60 votes is typically needed.
