World News@lemmy.world•European Parliament proposes to evaluate including Muslim Brotherhood in the EU terrorist listEnglish
1·8 days agoA stone more in the shoe of the PSOE ahead of the general elections on November 29. The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office considers that there are indications against the party in the ‘Leire Díez case’, although it understands that it is still premature to request the party’s indictment. This has been confirmed by legal sources to Europa Press in the context of the investigation led by the National Court judge Santiago Pedraz.
The case investigates the former socialist militant Leire Díez, the former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE Santos Cerdán, and lawyers, among others, for allegedly obstructing judicial proceedings affecting the PSOE and the Government. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has communicated to Pedraz that it sees indications against the party, but considers that before proposing its indictment, the proceedings that are still pending must be carried out, including Cerdán’s statement.
Cintia Rocho declared as a witness before the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard that the ‘Leire plot’ contacted her and conveyed the idea of “eliminating” the magistrate of Badajoz Beatriz Biedma, responsible for the investigation into David Sánchez, brother of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez …
Rocha explained to the investigators that the former judge Luis José Sáenz de Tejada --already indicted in this case-- told her that Biedma “was a fucking pain in the ass and she had to be eliminated” …

World News@lemmy.world•Spain: judge who convicted PM Pedro Sanchez's brother testifies before court for the first time, says she feared for her and her daughters' lifeEnglish
1·9 days agoIt’s unclear from the text you quoted that the impersonations are related to the messages
Yeah, it was likely a coincidence. It has nothing to do with the intimidation on social media and those saying, "Eliminating means killing her. A scare wasn’t going to make it.”
All those things are completely unrelated. /s
To end the satire: Yes, what you are doing is deflection.

World News@lemmy.world•Spain: judge who convicted PM Pedro Sanchez's brother testifies before court for the first time, says she feared for her and her daughters' lifeEnglish
1·10 days agoAfter being asked about the true sense of expressions such as “eliminating” or “giving it a sieve,” it was quite clear: “Eliminating means killing her. A scare wasn’t going to make it.”
What is unclear?
They apparently went to her daughters’ school, attempted to intimidate here on social media using deepfakes. All these reports in recent months about this case shines a clear light on Pedro Sanchez, a person with no morality nor ethics.
What you and others are doing with this report is a very weird form of deflection.

World News@lemmy.world•Spain: Law enforcement confirms Socialist network contacted drug clan to ‘eliminate’ judge who convicted the brother of Spanish PM Pedro SánchezEnglish
1·11 days agoSpain’s law enforcement has confirmed that, not a ‘far-right website’.
Sanchez has been facing a series of corruption cases in last years, involving his family members and close political allies. Sanchez is only interested in himself and his own career. And he is now trying to use the housing crisis and even the death of Maricarmen Abascal for its own advantalge. This person has no morality nor ethics, very much like the tankies here.
Edit:
And Sanchez’s brother has been convicted this year.
You are spreading misleading information and fascist propaganda, @[email protected].

World News@lemmy.world•As Finland's Nokia is closing its research hub in China, it is back to the time when the Nokia CEO asked Europe: "Why do you use Huawei, while China has thrown us out?"English
15·24 days agoNokia (and many others) considered China as a market to sell their products. The Chinese government demanded that companies that want to sell to China should also invest and produce in their country. That’s perfectly okay. It’s just that they then didn’t allow foreign companies to sell.
For example, a foreign carmaker can’t found a subsidiary in China. It needs a Chinese partner that would then own the majority of the joint venture. When the foreign company then develops a new car, it must hand over the entire technical specifications to the Chinese state. You can then be sure that a year or so later, there is a similar car on Chinese roads, but it’s probably cheaper, one reason being that they didn’t need to do the development work.
And this is only one reason why non-Chinese companies can’t be successful in Chinese domestic markets.

15·1 month agoAs an addition: I find it weird that so many comments here in this thread are - once again - bashing the U.S. and Russia, but are completely ignoring the fact that China is as unpopular. Some misled propaganda parrots are even criticizing the EU for being critical of China. That’s almost hilarious.

World News@lemmy.world•Germany rejects significantly more visa applications from Chinese scientists, students over espionage threatsEnglish
5·1 month agoThe particular danger with Chinese citizens stems from China’s national legislation that obliges virtually every citizen to cooperate with the country’s intelligence services. The main reason for rejected visa applications from China, according to the research, are therefore also security concerns.

World News@lemmy.world•Chinese students in the UK pressured by criminal gangs, expert saysEnglish
3·2 months agoIn this case, the issue is clearly about ethnic Chinese targeting their own citizens.
And it’s even worse as has been known for some time, as the rise of Chinese organized crime in the West highlights its ties to the Chinese state,
… As the regime of President Xi Jinping expands its international power, it has intensified its alliance with Chinese organized crime overseas. [Investigations in multiple countries] show the underworld’s front-line role in a campaign to infiltrate the West, amass wealth and influence, and control diaspora communities as if they were colonies of Beijing’s police state.
… Around the world, China’s shadow war of espionage, long-distance repression, political interference and predatory capitalism is drawing attention and alarm. Governments and human rights groups have denounced … a global network of covert Chinese police stations that spy on Chinese migrant communities and persecute dissidents — wherever they live … The Chinese state has sent illegal undercover teams to chase down fugitives in wealthy U.S. suburbs, surveilled and silenced Chinese students on foreign campuses, and allegedly supported the Chinese money laundering underworld that fortifies cartels inundating the Americas with deadly drugs …
… The partnership [between the Chinese state and the Chinese mafia] appears to mix geopolitics and corruption for mutual benefit. Gangsters help monitor and intimidate immigrant communities for the regime in Beijing, sometimes as leaders of cultural associations that are key players in China’s political influence operations and long-distance repression, Western security officials say. ProPublica has learned that suspected underworld figures in Italy and Spain took part in launching several of the secret Chinese police stations that caused an uproar when their existence became public last year …
