I remember some Republican wanting to put machine guns along the border. While sane people in the US, and most of the civilized world, have ongoing problems processing how fucked this country is now, magats/republicans, and the administration just giddily circle jerk on killing people. They love this type of murder, and go out of their way to defend it. So fucking gross.

As these types of articles always do, they leave out China’s huge unemployment problem and dismiss the existential threat of wealth inequality.

Wait until you read about the video of this guy being beat up by police in 1991, and a jury finding them innocent. I mean, the verdict did cause a city-wide, multi-day riot, so at least there was some pushback from the populace.
I found a couple that almost said the same thing, but can’t seem to dig up the study I had read. That’s annoying. It left an impression because I too had thought (and if I’m honest, I still think) the more progressive thinkers have a better understanding and are better informed than our ugly regressive opponents. I was kind of down for a few days after reading that both sides were pretty equally shitty. Just in terms of knowledge, not life view or wishes for society/humanity.
That’s what I thought when I saw what Dowd said that got him fired. We have lawsuits and threats against the press. We have an armed force pulling people off street. We have a court that doesn’t believe in the Constitution. And yet people seem to keep thinking the elections next year will be able to fix this.
“And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions,” Dowd said. “And I think that is the environment we are in.”
He added, “You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”
I tried to find a study I read a year or two ago about how informed voters were. It kind of shocked me that it was really close between the Rs and the Ds. Neither voter was particularly well-informed, just tribal.
Is it still a war crime without a war? I’m not trying to split hairs or justify the crime, just wondering about definitions. A quick search didn’t really clarify it. Violation of international law, absolutely. And who would prosecute? I don’t think the US has allowed itself to be subjugated to any international court.
I think they are just stupid, scared people who watch Fox 24/7 and really think bad things are happening everywhere. Or to put it more succinctly, they are little bitches.
Republican mind thought: There’s a problem that we can work on and fix it or make it better? Let’s just get rid of it and make everything bad. They should have been able to figure out how to close the loophole vs just getting rid of it. But no, that would take some cogitation and the boys with the ®s, well they don’t like that.

I think the point was not to elect our own criminal rapists, but it’s too late if that was indeed the point.
