  • I want to believe this but there is absolutely no evidence, provided by this article, to back this up.

Why wouldn’t you link the filing you are supposedly quoting?

    *Edit:

On my phone. There is a link to a a Chicago Tribune article in the section past where they initially referenced the data.

I had clicked a couple of links where OP’s article referenced the DoJ data and they were just references to other articles in its own publication.

I guess I gave up too early.

On that note though, how about OP just post the original article instead of this derivative trash article?

It has been so easy for people to generate bullshit news articles for manufactured news aggregates that reference circulary, for the purpose of obscuring the truth,.or creating wedge issues.

So now, if I don’t recognize the publisher, and it is setup like this one, I immediately smell bullshit.

  • I loved that they let a ton of people out of jail when they legalized marijuana and vacated a ton of convictions.

But then they literally just turned people out on the street with zero fucking pathways. No money, no home, no phone, just zero fucking resources.

It was an almost overnight explosion of homelessness in San Diego.

Sure they have always had a homeless population (the weather is particularly ideal for living outside most of the year), but nothing like it turned in to.

Clearing camps won’t help. Like you said, you need to solve the root problem.

  • JFC what was your unit like!?

There were shitty people sure, but it seemed to match the same percentages as everywhere else.

I will say this. The military taught me that every color/gender has a similar distribution of people who are solid and people who I wouldn’t piss on if they were on fire.

The worst ones absolutely were white officers. (But some of the best were too.)

The worst fucking enlisted leader I ever had was a skinny black Master Chief that said some of the stupidest shit. He didn’t believe in building up your people through mentorship and just shit on everyone.

He did some dumb but hilarious shit though. One time a pair of sailors violated DADT so they could leave (Claimed.they were gay). He said, “Sure, but prove it. Let me see you kiss. Have you ever had your ass penetrated? What does cum taste like?” They both turned beat red and admitted they weren’t gay.

I thought it was hilarious at first, but then very disturbed when I realized they were fucking trapped in this job. And how really fucking inappropriate he was.

But I did learn some important things.

Of the enlisted, all the shit bags came from shitty backgrounds which taught me that your family and environment have a huge say in how you turn out.

That made me realize that systemic racism and poverty go hand in hand and blacks have been fucked from the beginning.

That and you get out of it what you put into it. Embrace the suck, make some friends, and you will have amazing and cool experiences you could never have anywhere else.

  • I’m not arguing with your post, just one of your sources.

I live in Houston and was really interested in what that article has to say, because based on your comment, I thought, “Am I wrong? Was I misled by bad information and failed to do my due diligence?”

Nope, that article about Houston flooding is absolute trash.

One of his points he’s like, “I don’t even know what that means.”

One point he argues more green space would lead to more paved surfaces and then doesn’t really explain how that supposedly works.

Another point he says something along the lines of, “Like, I guess an argument COULD be made that some people were impacted because developers built on a flood plain…”

    GTFO with that bullshit article.

Yeah, Harvey dropped more rain than the land, that was overbuilt, could have absorbed, but that was just one of the contributing man caused factors.

There was always going to be flooding from Harvey, but it was WAY worse than it should have been if proper planning had been used. But Houston, like Texas as a whole, seems allergic to zoning and real urban planning development.

Developers always have been and always will be happy to build anywhere, and cut every possible corner they can, as long as it stands for the for the 10 years they still have a warranty.
