i’m so fucking sick of the attitude of americans. every single time it’s uncovered that this country is doing something horrifically inhumane everyone acts like they were born yesterday about it, as if all of this is brand new. we are a country built on slavery and genocide but people who are supposedly against MAGA are going “we used to be a country.” ironically, the exact same way MAGA is. there is no “infection” of the US, nothing “corrupted” this country. this country IS the infection, if you knew SHIT about world history the fucking planet you inhabit that would be incredibly obvious.

i certainly wouldn’t blame the whole of humanity for what certain, albeit sizeable, populations have CHOSEN to do. only because that lumps in the victims of said choices into it, and they’re innocent in all of this. but i do mostly agree

i agree with some of what you’re saying but not the experiencing more harassment on social media than you do IRL part. i don’t mean to invalidate your anecdotal evidence in any way but marginalized people have always used the internet as a way to connect with eachother and have a safe space away from the harassment they face IRL. and i also don’t face nearly as much harassment IRL than i do online but that’s because i don’t feel safe being me IRL unless around an extremely select few people. but if i was going around proudly exclaiming who i am the way i am online then i would definitely face MORE harassment in person than i ever have IRL.

i suppose it shouldn’t be surprising but these comments sure are proving the articles point. i guess blaming the people being oppressed is a lot easier than blaming or even actually acknowledging the systemic oppression when you’re a brickheaded fascist, especially when you’re unaffected by/benefiting from it

all violent empires end up ouroborosing, it’s inevitable. the important part is whether or not the people also being consumed capitalise on this event or not
