The problem is capitalism. Specifically, the consolidation of power in a small number of decision makers.
Break up the big companies. Stop letting them do mergers and acquisitions. You don’t even have to do something radical like dismantling capitalism entirely.
There should be consequences for trying to pass all these horrible and doomed bills. Unfortunately the people keep voting for the people writing them.
I don’t think the conservatives really understand the meanings of words
Many of them know they are using words dishonestly. They don’t care. They will say whatever in the pursuit of power.
Some are just legitimately stupid and have no internal consistency beyond emotions.

There are many, many, people that could be granted good bus service without tearing down and rebuilding the world. The problem is political. Every day and every dollar we put into other lesser solutions comes with a large opportunity cost.
Imagine if we’d focused on buses for the past 22 years instead of waymo. How many people could be served by the $16 billion in funding waymo got?
I’d rather live somewhere with buses and trains. You can get places when old and/or drunk, you build a better world for everyone, and you don’t funnel money into shitty privately owned tech companies.

Tangent, but I think this is another facet of why education is important: so people know what they don’t know. I think it’s harder to think you’re reinventing physics when you’ve taken some classes and seen all the work people have already done.
On the other hand, delusions can just be whatever so education isn’t a panacea.
I’m pretty sure conservatives axiomatically have a problem with women. That’s part of conservatism.
It’s an injustice to hold someone like that for so long and then just let them go like nothing happened. They should be given money and support (therapy, tutors, job placement, whatever).
