  • A large portion of the people that bought or wanted to purchase EVs are going to be people intelligent enough to believe in climate change and at least wanted to make personal choices that would make less of an impact on the environment. People intelligent enough to understand climate change are probably also going to understand that Hitler, Nazis, and the holocaust were bad. The party that Elon supported denies and downplays climate change, along with a myriad of other scientific and socioeconomic reports. Logically, the average MAGAt was never going to be a Tesla customer, so firing off that Heil Hitler was never going to win the company new customers. That one Heil Hitler alienated him from much of his customer base at a time when Tesla no longer had a monopoly of the EV market. Plenty of people that were considering a Tesla probably pivoted to other manufacturers because of the Nazism. I’m sincerely enjoying watching him find out about the financial consequences of fucking around. I feel bad for the people that bought Teslas before he went full Nazi, because now they are stuck with a swasticar for the foreseeable future.

  • Despite being human beings, we are still living organisms that evolved. Our species evolved intelligence which led to agriculture, industry, the industrial revolution, and our current ecological shitshow. In theory, we possess the intelligence to change course and attempt to fix things, but our collective greed and hubris will ensure that the capitalists end up ruling over a pile of smoldering ash from their bunkers. I’m not trying to downplay how badly we as a species have fucked up or how much damage we have done, just that evolution will continue despite us, even though we are the ones that pushed things in a certain direction.

  • Getting arrested is a death sentence, no matter the crime in the USA. My uncle was arrested, but never made it to trial. He had a heart attack and the guards just ignored his requests for medical help until after he dropped dead. They didn’t start CPR until it was too late because they decided he was being dramatic and faking when he initially collapsed. Did my uncle deserve to be arrested, yes. He also deserved a trial and access to medical care. He did not deserve to die. Fuck fascists, fuck capitalism, fuck the USA, fuck the whole corrupt and broken system.

  • Instead of people buying a house because they need a home, they are purchasing the house as a way to make more money. Instead of living in the house, they rent it out, and the renters just end up paying the mortgage. The owner holds the property for a certain amount of time, then sells the house after it appreciates and makes a profit. Houses that they already own can be used to leverage for more loans to purchase even more. Houses are no longer seen as a place to live, or a home, they are now seen as a way to generate income. If people that have money keep buying more and more houses without living in them, they end up creating scarcity, which drives up prices. Commodification is the process of turning something, such as a good, service, idea, or cultural artifact, into a commodity that can be bought and sold in a market. This often changes the item’s original meaning or significance by transforming its social or cultural value into an economic one based on supply, demand, and price. Now, the very things we need just to survive, food, shelter, water, and medical care are being comodified to pump as much profit from it as possible. Juxtapose this with wage stagnation despite increased productivity in the past century and inflation, it’s pretty clear that corporate entities would rather see us dead for short term profits than keep us as customers.

  • The flag was found inside Taylor’s office in the Cannon Building in Washington, D.C., Tuesday afternoon, according to an office spokesperson. Taylor believes it is the result of “foul play or vandalism,” the spokesperson said.

So someone broke into this guys office/cubicle to alter the flag to “vandalize” the office? But they didn’t vandalize anything else? I find that very hard to believe.

If you zoom in on the image in the politico article, you can see that the flag was altered. It appears that there are white tabs/pieces of paper placed over the parts of the red stripes, and the added red stripes look like they were done with pen/marker.

It’s more likely that someone with access to the office, or that worked in the office altered the flag. People do prank their coworkers, if so, this is a really shitty prank. The other likely scenario is that the aide altered the flag himself, and forgot it was hanging there when he had his zoom meeting. The other possible, and least likely scenario is the person that provided the image to politico altered the image themselves via photoshop/GIMP/paint.

If the aide hung this in his cubicle himself, he should be fired. If someone with access to the office hung it there to prank the aide, they should be fired. If the image was altered by the person that took the screenshot, they should be fired.
