World News@lemmy.world•Ben & Jerry's co-founder says Unilever blocked Palestine-themed ice creamEnglish
17·20 days agoI would have sold too. I don’t know what he sold for, but it’s probably hard to even imagine having this much. He gave up all riscs and he can still make his new flavour under a new brand if he really wants to.

World News@lemmy.world•Trump urges Israel's president to pardon NetanyahuEnglish
11·1 month agoI don’t know man, as the president of a state, I think I would be quite offended by even just the notion of interfering with judical matters, but maybe that’s just me

World News@lemmy.world•Vladimir Putin is fearful the return of his convict army could destabilise Russian society, sources sayEnglish
2·1 month agoJep, except according to their own recruitment claims (which are naturally also off), they either have casualties in the 10s per month, or much more troops in Ukraine than anyone can cofirm.

World News@lemmy.world•Vladimir Putin is fearful the return of his convict army could destabilise Russian society, sources sayEnglish
14·1 month agoWait, are there any convicts left? The have casualties in the tens of thounds per month, I would have guessed they were the prefered ones…

World News@lemmy.world•Germany approves €2.46m in arms exports to Israel after partial haltEnglish
6·2 months agoAnd what rocket or torpedo would you get for 2.5 million? Deliberately using singular here, because that’s about 5 IRIS-Ts or 2 Taurus missiles, which seems like a very unlikely order. Even more so when considering that the government went on record claiming that’s not the case. Would you lie for such a tiny order?
If they did a delivery like that every week, I’d be suspicious

World News@lemmy.world•Mystery drone sightings reported over critical infrastructure in northern GermanyEnglish
7·2 months agoTbf, if it’s a an off-the-shelf drone, there is plausible deniability. That could be anyone’s, even if Russia is the prime suspect

World News@lemmy.world•Trump administration will push back if FIFA ban Israel from international football as UEFA close to suspension decisionEnglish
6·2 months agoThe nazis now brand themselves as friends of Jews so they can claim they cannot possibly be Nazis. Also some weird religious stuff that implies the Jews must rule some stuff for rapture to happen. Something that I never heard of before and that was definitely never pushed by Israeli facists and their allies for the specific purpose of aligning with evangelicals

World News@lemmy.world•Australia’s under 16s social media ban could extend to Reddit, Twitch, Roblox and even dating appsEnglish
4·2 months agoSo far, I thought this was the norm. Dating apps are basically all 18+ here, although I did encounter kids posing as adults while I still used them

World News@lemmy.world•Trump goes off script in UN address, praising Germany for returning to nuclear energy and fossil fuels: 'All green is all bankrupt'English
6·2 months agoIf he was right on anything but the political spectrum, I would. I’m not sure what he is refering to, but while the current government is kinda pro nuclear, so far they have only announced more reliance on natural gas than previously planned, after the CDU had already criticized the planned capacity. This is meant as an equally reliable and more environmentally friendly replacement for coal, and it’s planned to eventually transition the gas grid to (hopefully green) Hydrogen. It is in no way reversing course on the green deal.
Disclaimer: I’m not a huge a fan of this plan, but it’s much more reasonable than Trump makes it sound.

World News@lemmy.world•Russian spy drones are flying over Germany: The Bundeswehr cannot shoot them downEnglish
5·2 months agoThere is drone countermeasure stuff being developed and deployed, but its use has to be made legal first. The law doesn’t allow the military to shoot down random things that are not an immediate threat. People love to act like this is ridiculous and a scandal, but considering that tiny drones haven’t really been a problem for decades (and aren’t actually that big of a deal RN), I thinks its reasonable to take a moment and develop procedures…

World News@lemmy.world•EU slaps Google with €2.95B fine despite Trump trade threatEnglish
21·2 months agoI mean, everything else would have led to protests, 100%. Imagine letting a company violate domestic law, just because you made a deal with their home nation. That’s not changing policy for money, which is not great to begin with, that’s ignoring law you have already passed for money retroactively

World News@lemmy.world•India asks Germany for help in search for EU free trade dealEnglish
2·2 months agoMy best guess is that it will take decades to get product safety stuff, environmental and working regulations close enough for this to go through. Otherwise EU countries would sell at a massive disadvantage

World News@lemmy.world•Cats develop dementia in a similar way to humansEnglish
6·3 months agoBro, do you have even the slightest idea how much easier it makes research to
a) Have an animal having the same disease, so that you don’t need human autopsies / trials
b) Have another species develop the same condition the same way, which rules out anything exclusive to humans?
