Incredible, just few hours ago I read a sarcastic piece how Trump will blame this mess on Obama. And now he did it for real.
Nothing new, but this orange piece of shit is the bigest joke the human race has ever brought up. And americans voted him into office… TWICE. 10 facepalms a second are not enough for this epic failure…
Well, you have to see it in a bit of a context. Many votes in Switzerland are concluded on a much tighter scale. Sometimes stuff gets accepted or declined by 50.5% or even less. 55% against the initiative is pretty decent, especially when it looked like it would pass for a long time. Me personally I would have liked to see 95% against this crap, but this has never happened on any matter that was voted on, so…
Also, the cities and suburbs, with the supposed “problems of immigration” right in front of their doorstep, all declined the initiative. It was the country side and small communities that aren’t even affected by immigration, that voted for it. This shows once again, that fear is a powerful tool to mobilize masses. Thankfully it didn’t work this time but we gotta stay alert and fight the narrative of fearmongering every single day.

It was a joke and you make a lot of assumptions on someone you dont know.
I don’t mind paper straws. I don’t mind taking the train or public transport instead of a car or plane. I don’t mind paying more for green energy. But I complain about the ultra rich not carrying their fair share. They do not care at all, even though their footprint is bigger than mine and yours combined will ever be, and that is very frustrating to say the least.
It was obviously a cynical joke.
Also, it’s not about the straws per se - it’s about that us everyday normies are being asked to change our ways to combat climate change and I’m totally in favor of that. We have to be more aware of our ways and where we can switch our behaviours to combat climate change.
But all it needs is an ultra rich dude flying around in his private jet or spend weeks on his yacht driving around and all our efforts become meaningless.
Change the little guy, for sure - but also grab the rich fucks by their balls as well. And so far nothing like that is happening.
Record breaking heat waves, record breaking storms in strength, flash floods, food shortages - all the good stuff.
Thank god we switched to paper straws and let the ultra rich use their private jets 5 times a day, or we would be really fucked.
