Well, where are all those deaths caused by choking during sex because of porn? They always do, which was the point of my comment. When the ‘good ones’ are in power everything is impossible to do, ‘civility’ and ‘decorum’ being the usual excuses. But when it’s the turn for the ‘bad ones’ to rule, magically, everything is very straight forward and promptly done, without any impediment from the ‘good’ opposition or even with their blessing in the name of ‘bipartisanship’.

In fact the only thing I would say is incorrect is the word ‘failures’, since I think they (the liberals, be it the Democrats or the equivalent in other countries) haven’t failed at all, quite the opposite, they’ve played their part masterfully to bring us here.
And before the liberals around feel attacked, this is not a ‘both sides are the same’ comment. That’s not how controlled opposition works. It’s more ‘both sides work together, even when they do very different things, to achieve the same goals’.
Just an example. While Trump’s DoJ is prosecuting people only because they are political opponents, Biden’s didn’t prosecute actual criminals (specially an orange one) because ‘they were political opponents, and it’s a bad look’. They disguise their inaction as civility, when it’s clear as water they’re doing it to further the plans of the people paying them, which is the same privileged class that’s paying the other side.

I’m not sure it’s possible to bankrupt a city like LA, they can go into massive debt and you and your children will end up paying it. They can also take the money from elsewhere in the budget: a shepherd will stop feeding the sheep but not the dogs.
No amount of primaries can solve it either, imo. The problem is parties. One party, two parties, many parties… they all end corrupt. A politician loyalty is not to the voters, or the people, or country. It is first and most to the party, because the party put them in that place, and it can take them away if they don’t stay on their lane. Parties can be, and so most have been, easily infiltrated and corrupted since money is what wins elections.

Mining is super messy, all of it. For the environment, the people living in surrounding areas, the workers… I think it was just yesterday I read an article about copper mining in Chile: polluted waterways, lots of orphans when a mine collapsed, people sick, others displaced from their homes… you know real actual problems, not some superstition.

I think it is unlikely. The us is extremely expensive compared to Russia or China, like a janitor in an American weapon factory is probably better paid (in absolute terms, not taking into account cost of living or anything) that a top engineer in a Russian or Chinese one. I don’t think they could afford them.
