Mass surveillance is happening right now, by companies and goverments. The data this generates can be analyzed using AI tools to find anything out of the ordinary, anyone trying to resist the empire. LLMs can be used to generate content to manipulate people, en masse or by microtargeting based on the surveillance data. This is not distant future, this is the near future, if not present.
I wonder if AI and it’s possibilities for mass surveillance and mass manipulation will make a difference and allow empires to sustain themselves and control it’s people.
Not recognizing ICC, regime change, illegal killing of foreign civilians, supporting genocidal regimes, invading other countries, carpet bombing nations, incarcerating their own population, killing eachother in mass shootings, biggest per capita contribution to climate change.
American exceptionalism isn’t doing us any good.

It was voted for by 6 parties, all of which are considered right wing.
You could of course argue that this means the center has shifted, and some of these should be considered center. Personally I think it’s just that immigration has been the dominant theme for decades now, and therefor people who would benefit from left-wing economics, now vote extreme right. I don’t think that makes them or anybody else a center.

Yes, ‘honor killing’ happens at different rates in different cultures, and it being an important factor in Middle Eastern culture could explain a higher rates in these cultures. But I am wondering, do we kill our daughters and wifes less here in the West? Or do we just give up different motives than honor? The US certainly has a very high femicide rate, higher than most Middle Eastern countries. (according to this website. Haven’t found infanticide rates yet.
