This! Im gonna get down voted for this im sure but I’ve been using Lemmy instead of reddit for almost a year now or so but the hive mind is almost worse here than it is on reddit! People here seem to not be interested in actual discussion unless you agree 100% with them. It’s frustrating, I was hoping Lemmy was gonna be better.

How would communism guarantee that illegal immigrants and citizens both are paid fairly without any impacts on the end consumer? And remember, I am asking for real world solutions here, so “everyone just owns everything and sings songs together” communism isn’t gonna work here.
And again, I’m not trying to be snarky. I am genuinely trying to come up with actual solutions that I could recommend in real life.
Now, here’s something I’ve been pondering about this line of thought.
I believe that everyone should be paid a fair wage for a fair days work. Which means that I really don’t like the fact that immigrant laborers get paid pennies compared to what an American laborers would.
But obviously raising pay for immigrants would be effectively the same thing (from a business accounting perspective) as just paying the Americans higher wages, which by your own comment would raise prices.
So I’m curious to see where you stand on this. Because to me there are a few end results and none of them are particularly amazing.
This is a genuine comment too. Like I said, I feel like the best route is to just increase pay for immigrants. But that has the same result on the end consumer.
Two thoughts on why it didn’t get flagged
the seller might be used to selling bulk amounts to distributors so 30 cases isn’t unheard of.
Since it was on Amazon, there might not have actually been a human in the loop (except the person who packaged it but its not on them to check stuff like that) until the package actually arrives

Yes the police shouldn’t be trusted, but neither should media being put out the same day. There hasn’t been enough time for the media to actually get evidence and view it themselves. Any “facts” you see right now should be held to the same belief.
I mean dude just lost a kid. Right or wrong, people make bad decisions in those situations.

I’m not going to try and defend the police in general here. And I’m not going to defend the police involved with this or the kid or the dad. We do not know enough and there is waaaay too much misinformation being spread about this. Anyone who claims to know the “right” thing to do here is either naive or lying.
But, with all that being said. I am a CCW card holder and I do regularly carry as is my constitutional and legal (in my state) right to do so. I also did the whole CCW course (even though my state has constitutional carry laws), go shooting once or twice a month, and annually attend another CCW focused course hosted by a shooting range in partnership with the state sheriff.
But from what I’ve heard, the police started chasing the kid who pulled out a gun (a popular theory I’ve heard online was to dump the weapon). But in that scenario, I can see why the officers would have reacted the way they did. I was taught that if you have to pull a gun on someone the only two de-escalation paths available to you is either them laying face down on the ground, or you killing them. Yes, technically there are other ways, but in a very high stress scenario those things take time and if you pull a gun out you should be 1000000% committed to shooting whatever you have pointed it at.
Like you said, the only thing guns are good at is killing. And no matter how pro-2A and gun loving you are, that’s all they will ever be good for.
I don’t know. I guess this was a really long wall of text to say “we don’t know enough” and “don’t pull a gun out while running from the police”.

Like at my Walmart steak is selling for ~$10/lbs, and ground beef is like $6 or $7 per pound. Right now beyond ground beef is selling for ~$11/lbs.
And it doesn’t taste the same. So you will actually have to hit that $3/lbs mark your talking about before it becomes a good option. Because pork chops are already only $4/lbs
Id say religion tends to be more of a reflection of what a society finds as civil. Look at other religions around the world, or historical religions and there are some things that would be entirely unacceptable in my local society at least.
