I don’t know how it works in NY, but where I am, for charges like “hate crime” it would be the police. You would report some initial incident and the cops would decide whether to press charges and what charges to press (from experience with my brother)
It’s a criminal complaint by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, not the NYT.

I had just turned 17 when the gay marriage plebiscite happened in Australia. I still remember the anger I felt at not being able to vote on my own right to marry.
I was more naive then than I am now, but I also was at twenty.

This isnt just a win for Labor, this is a historic landslide after the already historic landslide in 2022. The Liberals could hold as few as 40/150 seats in the house after today, and Labor as many as 90. This could be their greatest victory since the Second World War, and the Liberals (who, to clarify, are conservative) smallest representation since their formation. There was something like a 5% swing away from the Liberals. Likewise, this result appears to have elected the most independents to parliament in decades.
Technically both sides have almost identical policies in the upcoming election - only because the Liberals (who are conservative) copy pasted Labor’s policy in a pretty lame attempt to overcome their (rightfully earned) reputation as a threat to Medicare. That said, Labor introduced the rebate freeze back in 2013, so who knows.
The only party offering a real solution are the Greens, who (hopefully) might form a minority government with Labor like they did in 2010.
I think supporters of Israels actions don’t see genocide itself as inherently wrong, but more that some of the people victimized by the Holocaust were wrongly targeted. This one is against the “right” people.

You have to be fucking kidding me.
It’s weird you think China is some kind of gotcha, because if the best the Canadian government could do in the unlikely future where “China is parked on [Australia’s] coastline” is a symbolic gesture that hurts its own citizens, I would rather you wouldn’t. So again, why do you expect us to damage our own economy for the sake of a symbolic gesture?
Trump does not understand or respect symbolic gestures in trade/deals, and you’re complaining that we won’t make one at our significant detriment. Considering you and Mexico are the biggest importers from the United States, well targeted retaliatory tariffs have a real chance of hurting the US and enacting change. We import 10 times fewer goods (20 times if you include Mexico) and have a 2:1 trade deficit, so we don’t have the power to significantly affect the US in the same way you do, and our treasury has made it pretty clear we’d probably be the only ones hurt by such a policy.
We have better, actually effective ways to enact change (i.e. threatening Pine Gap, AUKUS, etc). So why do you expect us to damage our own economy for the sake of a symbolic gesture?

We’re not retaliating with tariffs because nearly every mainstream economist has advised against it, including our own Treasury. Here’s the quote from Steven Kennedy, treasury head, at a Senate estimates hearing on 26 February:
For a medium-sized economy such as Australia, there is overwhelming evidence that the use of trade restrictions imposes costs on our consumers and businesses… If Australia were to impose tariffs, we would bear nearly all the cost, given our size and inability to affect the world prices of the goods we import.
We would be shooting ourselves in the foot for the sake of what would essentially amount to little more than a symbolic gesture. We have other, more effective cards beyond tariffs.
What about trans women who transitioned before puberty? What about cis or intersex women with elevated levels of testosterone? What about sports where it has been shown that after a long enough period of medical transition trans people have no significant advantage over their cis counterparts?
You appeal to science yet fail to cite a single source, so let me do it for you:

In my experience, Wikipedia has a pervasive cultural of false balance, and it does not surprise me at all that this attitude extends to the founder of the site. Despite their many policies dictating otherwise, in my experience adjudicators often end up weighing authoritative academic sources equally with outdated or lower quality references. Looking through the talk page, it sounds like there was already an extensive RFC for the wording of the lede. Policy was already applied correctly in this case - the system worked as it was supposed to - and it’s incredibly inappropriate for Wales to pull rank, reopen discussion when there has been no notable change in circumstance, and advocate for this exact kind of behaviour.
