I think what’s happening now is the revolution for the most part, this might be what those citizens would be pushing for. It’s hard to find objective data on ‘popularity of the taliban in afghanistan’, but you can find a thousand articles on how unpopular every other possible idea has been there. The Taliban are seen as the only option for stability and security for some in the region. There are still protests against the taliban going on, but the numbers are kinda scary when you compare it to the size of the Taliban forces…

Have to remember that priorities as to what constitutes a successful society can be radically different in other countries and sometimes it feels very unhinged and short sighted.

I don’t want to say they’re harmless now, but the KKK has been more or less tame since around the 80s. They just act tough sporadically and yell now, demographics on the KKK leans real old. Probably should have been on the terrorist organization list back in the day, but now they’re mostly just annoying.

I thought it was just the one, but apparently he’s up to 3 sexual assault cases including a rape case where he lost the case and the appeal (in civil court). Looks like at least 3 regular old assault cases too, along with some dangerous driving cases thrown in for kicks.

Realistically, the end goal is to replace the democratic party with the new one and abandon the growing progressive wing to obscurity.

They definitely are, more and more, it’s the same as every popular movement. They pad the propaganda with legitimately good advice and some controversial but easily supportable facts. That makes the more controversial items easier to swallow.

No one to cheer for, we don’t do good guys anymore, just various levels of bad guys fighting between themselves.

People also forget that he’s legitimately not a democrat. Bernie Sanders is an independent, he joined the democratic party when he was running for president but left afterwards.

Maybe that’s the long game. There are worse ways to get out of a relationship.

They have a fairly large group that isn’t going to change their votes either way. Then, they have another group that actually might stay home, but things like this motivates them. They don’t have to care about the parts of their base that aren’t going to change their mind.

I feel like this is an indicator that we’re expecting this cease fire to be a short one.

Eh, the sentiment has always been ‘fuck russia’, it’s a pain. If someone comes up with a good reason to reenter the russian markets and everyone think it’s profitable and legal enough to get away with, they’ll bring it up at their company and will probably be successful, but a lot of us are very happy we didn’t have to worry about that for a few years.

This statement is driving down the perceived profitability though, so probably bought us a bit more time.
