News@lemmy.world•New insight into Texas family detention reveals adults fighting kids for clean water
3·5 months agoWe don’t even insure that our own citizens get clean water and proper medical care, why would we expect these detention centers to be any different? This country is in crisis

133·5 months agoYou shouldn’t have to wear safety rated glasses to protest, but I wouldn’t go to one without them at this point. If you normally wear glasses and they’re not rated an impact can shatter them and cause even more damage than not wearing them at all would have.

World News@lemmy.world•US prepares for No Kings protests against TrumpEnglish
28·5 months agoPlenty of people will be protesting in Seattle, represent your own city. It may not get as much media coverage, but it can motivate people in your local community and that’s the kind of movement we really need across the country.

Shell and Nestle have committed numerous atrocities against mankind. When your platform suddenly becomes untenable for them to run ads on, the problem is definitely your platform.

News@lemmy.world•More than 100 immigrants detained at an illegal after-hours nightclub in Colorado
1·7 months agoYou’re right. If the government did not already have a history of essentially human trafficking innocent people, I would be much less inclined to care about this

News@lemmy.world•Gen Z and millennials are struggling to work with their older counterparts, but boomers have no problem with their younger coworkers
3·7 months agoOnce again, Gen X left out of the conversation when they still make up a large percentage of the workforce lol.
Being a millennial in the workplace right now is giving me whiplash. Boomers are essentially the old guard and their ways of running business are going the way of the dodo, though I was brought up in that climate and sort of got used to it. While work environments had a tendency to be toxic, I did find some merits in their approach.
Gen Z is almost like the polar opposite reaction to boomer workplace culture. While I think going away from that is a good thing, I also think there have been overcorrections. The culture clash is noticeable and the fact that the old guard seems to be ignoring it only adds to the challenge.

News@lemmy.world•More than 100 immigrants detained at an illegal after-hours nightclub in Colorado
121·7 months agoWhat “illegal immigrants” in their right mind would be out partying at an after hours night club with everything going on? I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few, but 100? This reeks of steamed hams. 100 migrants localized entirely in this illegal nightclub, in this political climate? I would like to see the evidence
Is that good?

11·7 months agoJust like Gen Z fucked up by being in elementary school or even diapers instead of buying property in 2008. You’ve goofed by not building factories instead of eating, where’s your grind mentality?
I could hear a handful of podcasts out there saying this unironically. Society is cooked

World News@lemmy.world•World surges past 40% clean power in record renewables boomEnglish
24·7 months agoA recent study performed by actuaries, not environmental scientists, predicted a possible 50% global drop in GDP by 2070-2090. 50%! Scientists have been sounding the alarm for decades, but you know it’s bad when actuaries are doing the same thing. When the alternative is certain collapse, the alternatives become priceless. No matter what happens at this point, global society cannot exist in its current form in the future.
It is very important to remain sharp and swift in a time like this
