Abdellatif Hafraoui sits at a small dining table in the Bayonne apartment he shares with his wife, Sandra, sipping his morning coffee — a ritual unchanged over their 15 years of marriage.

Since August, however, that routine has been shadowed by months in ICE detention and the black ankle monitor now strapped around his leg.

The arrest forced Sandra to reconsider assumptions she had long held about immigration enforcement. “To think we were MAGA!,” Sandra proclaimed. The couple even attended a Trump rally in Las Vegas in 2020.

Sandra voted for Trump three times, believing enforcement would focus on people with criminal records — not individuals like her husband.

Asked what she would say to him now, she paused. “You said you were going after the worst of the worst, but instead you ruined our life,” she said.

So, what they are actually saying is that the government is “hurting the wrong people”.

They wanted people hurt, just not not themselves.

I was told by my grade 8 history teacher that, “The Government is not your friend, the Government is not your enemy, the Government is there to make sure there is a tomorrow.” I don’t know what it means, but it sure sounds good, eh?

Yeah I’m sure they needed enough funds to double the size of the US prison system in order to deal with just the worst of the worst of the worst? “Mass Deportation” meant only the 3% of immigrants that were violent criminals?

It must be a truly blissful life to be so unaware… “How dare the boot I was licking step on me!”

They assumed that MAGA would be going after the people they hate, because they spend so much of their time wallowing in that hate, that it’s all they think about.

But hate is dangerous, it spreads, and gets out of control, and it doesn’t care who it’s victims are. Now its claiming those who supported it because the indiscriminate hate has reached them.

They unleashed it, now they have to deal with it.

Awww…FAFO. We tried to warn y’all about Stephen Miller and the MAGA mindset on immigrants: everyone’s a criminal. It’s not like they weren’t openly saying this since day freaking one.

I’d say she would have learned her lesson but clearly she hasn’t.

“Then you probably have looked at the facts of the situation and came to a logical conclusion while also having empathy towards people who don’t look like you.”

Nah, it probably says something offensive.
