The Canadian prime minister spoke after returning from the World Economic Forum where he urged middle powers to team up in resisting President Trump.

When Mark Carney became Canada’s prime minister last year, he was known mostly as a technocratic central banker who had gone on to success in the world of global finance.

But when Mr. Carney returned this week from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he was suddenly a global political star. The normally reserved audience at the annual gathering of billionaires, investors, chief executives and politicians rose in an exceptional standing ovation at the end of Mr. Carney’s rousing, 30-minute speech on Tuesday.

Mr. Carney was praised for his candid assessment of what he called an irrevocable “rupture” to the global order caused by President Trump, and for urging other middle powers to join Canada in charting a distinct path away from the world’s superpowers.

I’m really hoping that the magic Carney is doing is all behind the scenes, top-secret, serious powerbroker shit. And if he is, that’s going to be fire.

But if he isn’t, “meh” is an understatement. Because most of what he’s done in public has been typical neoliberal status quo, rape the environment, fuck the people, while telling them how much they’re both going to be enjoying it.

I’ve always believed he’s a sneaky snake. I know he was one to get elected.

The optimist in me wants to believe he’s a sneaky snake working on our side.

The pessimist in me is convinced he’s a sneaky snake working against us.

I guess time will tell us which one is the case.

Those fair very poorly. I don’t know of a better system, but elections are kinda of a fucked up system.

It doesn’t change any of my issues with him (reinforces some of them), but it was a sterling demonstration of his strengths, and certainly makes me feel proud to be Canadian right now.

Which is why King Baby the Petulant revoked the invitation for Carney to join his “board of peace.”

What an absolutely pathetic piece of shit. I can’t wait to read Trump’s obituary…

I listened to a primer about this board on the local news last night; apparently quite a few countries rejected it outright, and most of those that didn’t basically have it lying on their desks like a paper turd, not knowing what to do with it. AFAICS the majority says “not in its present form”, which is basically a separate UN with a god king.
