Inflation outpaces wages for middle- and lower-income households since January 2025, pushing more Americans into living paycheck to paycheck, especially among Millennials and Gen X.

It’s been the case for me my whole life. One time I was in a spot where I was able to save a couple grand, then the transmission in my car died and since then I haven’t been able to save a dime. That was 2019.

    https://www.ibtimes.com/americans-living-paycheck-paycheck-rises-24-2025-led-millennials-gen-x-bofa-report-3790157

The latest Bank of America (BofA) report reveals that 24% of American households are now living paycheck to paycheck, up slightly from 23.7% in 2024.

Since January 2025, inflation has outpaced the post-tax wages of middle- and lower-income households. The US inflation rate rose to 3% in September, up from 2.9% in August, further eroding purchasing power.

Trump: ‘We’re going to become so rich, you’re not going to know where to spend all that money’

In Trump’s defense, I don’t think that he ever actually defined who “we” were.

Something is off here. It has been reported for several years that the percentage of Americans living paycheck to paycheck was well over 50%.

    For example: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/us/americas-cost-of-living-crisis-deepens-68-now-living-paycheck-to-paycheck/articleshow/124996298.cms

Kind of surprised it’s only 24%. I’ve met both poor and well off people that lived like that.
