Satellite internet functionality via Starshield — the military version of the SpaceX service — was being at least partially restored Thursday morning, according to a source in the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

Ukraine has resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy angrily accused the United States of betraying Kyiv with a “dangerous” withdrawal of support critical to its defense against Russia.

Ukraine held off on attacks for three days after Donald Trump’s unilateral “energy ceasefire” announcement, but accused Russia of repeatedly attacking its power grid. Zelenskyy voiced mounting frustration over the Kremlin’s failure to abide by the truce, and what he sees as U.S. attempts to pressure Kyiv after gaps in intelligence sharing on Russian attacks and restrictions on the Starlink internet service.

Satellite internet functionality via Starshield — the military version of the SpaceX service — was being at least partially restored Thursday, according to a source in the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the topic.

In an interview with the Financial Times, published Thursday, Zelenskyy indicated his patience had already been exhausted.

No, you see, the trick you’re pulling is blaming the global South for supposed barbarism when it is the West that profits off of those horrors and maintains them via it’s monopolistic control over finance, oil, and other essential commodities required for development, and this system of extraction from poor countries into the rich countries that you consider to have superior cultures is enforced by imperialist militaries and comprador oppressive governments.

You cannot say that Arab culture is worse than Western culture when you are dependent on oil being parasitically extracted from Arab countries with nearly zero profits from it actually improving the lives of the people there. You cannot say that Indian culture is worse, when you literally benefit off of workers there living in worse conditions because that means the agricultural / chemical / industrial products produced there can be cheaper and it means you can have a higher quality of life because everyday consumer goods are cheaper.

Iran is a great example: If one country of the supposed lesser cultures stops exporting oil, then your precious Western Civilization starts shriveling up like a leech.

Who profits from whom is non-sequitur in determining which culture is built on better principles. The argument that “better quality of life will make the world a better place and allow cultures to work together in harmony” (that is, globalization) was proven wrong by the rise of China. They are the strongest economy, yet still have a terrible human rights problem, which they export everywhere they go. The “arabs” are rich nations too, look at the Gulf states and Saudis. They still did 9/11. Somehow it wasn’t a white thrash trailer park boy who flew a plane into the Kaaba stone.

Some societies are not built on individual rights at which point they are inferior. The individual is the only real thing that exists. Nations, clans, religions, even families are just abstractions in our heads. If those are presented as more important than the individuals rights and responsibilities then it’s in the interest of the presenter to deceive their audience. Somehow the “interest of the clan” always aligns with the interest of the clan leader. You can see that transformation in real time in the US with Trump.
