    If you can afford it, buy from local roasters. The companies listed in the report are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to coffee. Your local roaster will surely be buying direct from the farms, and the coffee will be miles ahead in terms of flavor.

      Doesn’t the law require the wage changes all the way down the chain though? Not just the roaster but also the farm and plantation workers?

      The roasters I’ve talked to all say the same thing. They buy from brokers and the big guys can buy from the farms. The only people who can make the change on farms having living wages are the brokers and major corporations but they are completely protected from this law.

        I’m no expert on the law, but I assume you’re right.

        Here in Belgium, there are many roasters who have partnerships directly with farms (OR Roasters, MOK, among others).
