PM appears to draw comparison between Russian and US leaders’ actions and calls for plan to restore Hormuz strait shipping
Keir Starmer has said he is “fed up” with the effect that Donald Trump’s actions in the Middle East are having on the British public, while appearing to draw a comparison between the US president and Vladimir Putin.
Speaking to ITV’s Robert Peston on Thursday, the prime minister said: “I’m fed up with the fact that families across the country see their bills go up and down on energy, businesses’ bills go up and down on energy because of the actions of Putin or Trump across the world.”
Starmer, who has been heavily criticised, and at times mocked, by Trump for not committing British forces to the war on Iran, also appeared to condemn Benjamin Netanyahu for Israel’s continued strikes on Lebanon, despite Iran calling for Lebanon to be included in the ceasefire that was agreed on 7 April.
Fed up? And gas prices are the sticking point? Sigh, OK, you do you. But hey, better that than nothing.
If Starmer isn’t in the Epstein files he’s the dumbest cuck on the planet.
Why not both?
So we’re going to cut subsidies for oil companies to clean up their own mess and reinvest the money into renewable power production, right? Right?
How dare you?
Starmer is a conceited, two-faced little shit, in my humble personal opinion. This is the idiot who led a group of 30+ countries to put pressure on Iran including threatened economic sanctions AFTER they were illegally bombed by the U.S and had needed to respond with their own actions. He is only signaling a position like this because he knows his ass is going to be burned in the next election rounds.
Yep, Spain is much more a leader than the UK at this point
Sadly no one cares about Spain. It’s trying to be a bridge between EU and Africa and South America, it’s trying to stand it’s ground in EU doing all the right things, the government is fairly effective locally and in EU but in the end it’s all about money. Germany is fumbling as a EU leader for about a decade now, France is struggling internally, UK doesn’t have any feet left to shoot itself in but they are still the ones calling all the shots.
What are you talking about? Half the British rich live in Spain
I mean that no one cares about what has to say on international level. The only Spaniard holding any significant position in EU is Teresa Ribera. Spain is consistently skipped when handing out important offices. All calls from Spain to sanction Israel are simply ignored. It’s opposition to Trump also doesn’t lead to any actual influence on EU policy. It’s sad but Spain is not sitting at the main table in EU.
No idea what rich British living in Spain have to do with any of it.
It really is incredible how much global influence both the US and UK have pissed away over the last decade or so.
It happens to all fascist entities over time, they eat themselves. The US and UK are no different.
How would that make any sense while Iran is being bombed by USA and Israel?
Also I never heard about that, so I guess you are misrepresenting what really happened.
What I heard was that Europe was seeking a diplomatic solution. And we are in no position to pressure Iran with sanctions in the current situation. It would be more sensible to lift sanctions to allow the strait to be opened. You hadn’t heard leads you to conclude that it’s not correct and progress to asinine comments on my post? You believe yourself to be some sort of omnipotent being?
The information is at least two or three days old (find those yourself). Indeed Starmer noted it on a report just today. See link below. Whilst watching Starmer speaking, do try to remember that he’s trying to make it sound reasoanble.

Your link says nothing of the kind. But instead it says this:
"We’ve been pulling together a coalition of countries … working on a political, diplomatic plan,
So exactly as I commented, European countries are seeking a diplomatic solution, you grossly misrepresented what happened to a degree it was unrecognizable to the reality behind your claim.
You can call it asinine if you want, but you just proved that I was 100% right. And you made a false claim.
So you still didn’t check for yourself? Try this suggestion, search, check, verify. If you conclude I’m mistaken, you provide the info you rely upon to set aside my comments. Your ignorance is too much.
That’s insane, I just quoted from the article you linked to, and it does not contain anything to support your claim.
I wouldn’t bother arguing with them, they’re on .ml, so it’s a high likelyhood they are extremely anti-west and will assume the worst no matter what the source says.
I must admit I’m considering blocking those tankies, they are just too far removed from reality to have a sensible debate with.
Do you use these amazing deductive powers in real life?
I suggested searching for yourself as that removes your view of my bias. That must either be more effort than repeated nitpicking, or you’re a lazy thinker. I’m going with the latter given your more recent comments. Tankie? If in doubt, rather than elucidate for yourself and take away doubt why not call names.
That means he’ll stop supporting Israel with their genocide and other destabilising actions, right?
It’s required a court hearing to stop us from being arrested for protesting for Palestine. Starmer (and almost all others) unlikely to speak out about Israel. So far, we only have Polanski and the Green Party.
Slow down, there, speedy.
He’s going to start by sending a strongly-worded letter to Donald and proceed from there.
Man people should really stop throwing such powerful words around. There are like what, 200 dead from those strikes? I mean sure, you could say there is ongoing genocide against…hezbollah
They’re still killing people daily in Gaza, and displacing people in the west bank, despite a nominal ceasefire.
He’s going to be really pissed when the trade agreements negotiated post-tariffs start kicking in. Gonna wish they’d stayed in the EU.
It was ?yesterday? when it was being reported, here, how the UK had caught 3 Russian submarines mapping what undersea-infrastructure to cut, to sever the UK’s vitals??
UK’s on rickety “strength”, it seems… MUCH greater threat than merely having fuel-costs rise…
same as Canada is, after having spent the last century betting-the-farm on US being our automatic ally…
Stupid tunnel-vision indulging…
coming to bite us, soon…

So he’s going to kick the USA off the military bases, right?
Careful, he might become cross. Keep it up and he might become vexed.
