Kia, Nissan, and Hyundai all make EVs you can buy in the US. So do Rivian, Ford, and Chevy. There’s probably more that I’m forgetting.

There’s a fair amount of EVs on the market in the US that aren’t Tesla’s or Chinese. It’s a market segment growing every year.
I think everyone knows where we go from here. We’re just not supposed to say it out loud.

I don’t think it’s that simple. I know young people who emigrated from Ukraine and still have family there that voted for Trump in 2024. I would wager that they care more than you or I do what happens in Ukraine. It didn’t stop them from voting for Trump.

He’s persuasive to idiots. That’s not the same thing as charismatic

If we just demonstrate as clearly as possible that we’re not a threat to them, they’ll have no choice but to give in to our demands!

Yes, it’s called breaking the law

He is the best example of why society shouldn’t let people accumulate extreme wealth. Getting everything you want your whole life is poison to the soul. Pair that with a personality disorder or severe mental illness and you get an unholy cocktail of character flaws and vices that the devil himself wouldn’t care to partake in.

This is me everyday. I should get out more.

I don’t have to know where you live to say that you’re trending this direction too. If you’re not vigilant you’ll find yourself in the same position before too long.

What are you basing this on besides your feelings? It sounds nice but I don’t see any reason to believe that it’s anything more than wishful thinking.

The best part is that he’s not even particularly good at it. Nebraska has been shit for well more than a decade at this point.

If the worst people in society are making a list of enemies it should be considered a moral failure to not make the list.
I don’t know, our influence isn’t exactly a good thing at the moment but most of the rest of the world seems to be doing a pretty good job of destabilizing on its own. We’re just further down the path than they are.
Unless you mean you’ll be in prison reading about what he’s doing outside that doesn’t seem to be the direction we’re heading

These dudes tell dick jokes for a living. If you want to throw that under the general umbrella of “the arts” in order to make appeals to lofty ideals then that is your right as a free thinking individual, but we both know the main reason you’re doing that is to try and make a square peg fit in a round hole.

You guys expect way too much from the court jesters. There’s plenty of serious enterprises investing heavily in SA, go after them if this is something you care deeply about. Comedians aren’t supposed to be the moral pulse of society and yet that’s how almost all conversations about them are framed these days.

Will those people attempt to make an impact if the cost is more than inconvenience?

Can they afford to live under a fascist dictatorship that crushes dissenters and disappears citizens at will? It seems that by “realistic” resistance you mean “without inconvenience” but we’re never going to get to that point. That seems to be what people are hoping for and it just doesn’t work that way. The longer we wait the more sacrifice will be required.
Clearly we need to see for ourselves how this kind of governance plays out. Those 2 inches could ironically end up being the thing that saves us from fascism.
